The Achenflower road was a tale of two halves for the 2022 running of the sprint with a bitterly cold front that came through after a good weather first run for the 55 entries that contested the day
Mike Tall came to grief on the first run after choosing between crashing directly into a bridge or logging some uncleared flight time and clearing the stream and crashing into the far bank, after a decent tumble end over end and coming to rest in on his side. After the team ensured the car was off the track and getting Mike checked out the rest of the day everyone else was well behaved.
Matt Summerfield won the day with David Quantock nipping at his heals keeping him honest and Blair Logan the first non-AP4 car home.
Deane Buist brought home the class 3 in the Celica and Steven Thompson’s first run was enough to keep him ahead of Markus Van Klink in 3rd
Karl Celeste lead a very tight class 2 field that was only separated by 4 seconds over the top 3 with Ian Warren in second and David Birkett only 0.3 sec further back in 3rd
Peter Murch won an all Toyota Class one field with Jay Ritchie in second and Grant Goile coming 3rd

One of our most popular gravel sprints Auchenflower Rd Gravel Sprint returned on 7th August give drivers 8.7km of fast flowing, public road with twisty section in the middle to test their skills. There are three bridges, some fast straights and several high speed blind brows to provide a real challenge for drivers and cars. One of our longer sprints, Auchenflower Rd is a favorite for many of our local drivers who have driven it many times over the years. Situated just south of Sheffield, Canterbury it’s a wicked road with one of the fastest sections in our sprint series.
