DESCRIPTION:Sean Haggarty on his way to winning Cust 2 in 2021 \nOur next Sprint for 2023 after canterbury rally will be Cust Sprint on Saturday 1st of July with a slight twist with the sprint being run in both directions\, fastest time of each way combining for total time. \n2023-07-01st Cust 3 Gravel Sprint Regs \nApprox 3km gravel public road\, fast and flowing on a hard base with a short twisty piece in the middle. This is the same finish as the shortened event we ran last time with a right hand turn towards the end finishing on Leslies Road but we will be racing on the return run as well. Come and have some fun spraying gravel! \nDirections: From Rangiora travel through Cust Township. Turn right into Tippings Rd. At the fork keep left\, to stay on Tippings Rd and start line will be up ahead. Service area is parking on the grass verge. Please do not leave any rubbish when you vacate.

DESCRIPTION:Congratulations to Mike Tall for winning the last time event which he won on the last run in a tight battle with a few others!\nAn old favorite Rakaia Zig Zag Gravel Sprint is coming up on the Sunday 23rd April 2023\, with a slight change due to some requirements so finishing a little earlier than we have in the past offering a chance for a new record to be set.  \nIt’s approximately 2 km of  gravel public road flowing on a hard base on the steep country side right by the Rakaia river.  \n\nWe are at maximum capacity with 50 drivers confirmed this Sunday April 23rd the Rakaia Zig Zag Rd Gravel Sprint with some drivers on the waitlist.\n\n\nPlease contact us ASAP if you need to withdraw so we can let someone on the waitlist to go racing.\n\n\nA reminder\, documentation starts at 8:30am.\n\n\n \n\n\nEnjoy seeing all sorts of cars and quad bikes race up one of our old favourite gravel roads.\n\n\nRacing starts from around 11am.\n \n\n\nThanks to the Selwyn District Council\, local residents\, volunteers and supporters who have made this event possible.\n\n \n \nGoogle Map \n \nHighlighted Purple is the service area\nHighlighted Yellow is the spectator area \nDirections:  Directions – From Hororata township travel west on Cordys until reaching State Highway 77. Follow this to the intersection of Deans Road (approximately 3 km). Cross over Deans Road and continue to signposted gate on the left.\n \nAutosport Club Starlet: Any young driver who wishes to use the Autosport Club Starlet\, please contact Daniel Males 027 367 7801 prior to the event to book. DESCRIPTION:Autosport Mt Thomas – Gravel Sprint \nA great piece of 4km forestry road\, Mt Thomas is an awesome fast blast with a bit of everything\, fast\, technical climb then along a ridgeline through the forest and a twisty downhill finish. \nRegulations: 2022-07-28th Mt Thomas Gravel Sprint Regs \nEntries out now\, enter now via possum.motorsport.org.nz  \n \nPlease remember your entry is not deemed valid until internet payment is received (as per the regulations). \nSadly due to forest regulations there will be no spectators or spectator viewing at this event \n \nMatt Penrose won the event in 2017 in his mighty Ex-Trevor Crowe WRX. He won convincingly with a margin of 5 seconds from Job Quantock who’s getting to grips with the Skoda AP4. Matt Summerfield was only 1 seconds behind in a borrowed Evo 3\n \nClass winners in 2017\n \nClass 1 0-1300cc winner Chris Herdman (Starlet) still dominates the category\, winning by 5 seconds from Ryan Blacktopp also in a Starlet.\n \nClass 2 1301-1600cc winner David Birkett (Levin\, Ex-David Holder) had a great battle with the fast improving Nick Marston (Sprinter).\n \nClass 3 1600cc+ winner Ari Pettigrew only just beat the experienced Andrew Sim in the battle of the Fiestas as Andrew fought back only to miss out by less than 0.2 seconds.

One of our longer sprints\, Auchenflower Rd is a favorite for many of our local drivers who have driven it many times over the years. SUMMARY:6 June - Canterbury Rally
DESCRIPTION:Regs and Entry Form are now out for the 2021 Lone Star Canterbury Rally. Teams will be racing on 134 kms of special stages on forestry and public gravel roads. The rally will begin with a ceremonial start on Saturday 5th June. First car starts from Joe’s Garage\, Alfred St\, Rangiora at approximately 8:30am on Sunday 6th June. First car finished approximately 6pm on Sunday 6th June at Lone Star\, Manchester St\, Christchurch. \n \n\nSpectator points including the Ceremonial start\, Sunday Start\, Service Parks\, Spectator Points and Finish \nThe rally consists of seven special stages\, the first and last ones being in the Ashley Forest. All other stages are on public roads in North Canterbury that have been closed for the event. \nStage 2 starts on Happy Valley Rd close to Motunau Beach and runs north on Happy Valley\, Stonyhurst and Blythe roads to finish at Nape Nape Rd. The stage has brows\, sweeping curves and some tight technical stuff. With the dry weather that we have been experiencing these roads are hard and fast and the stage is said to be one of the best public road rally stage available in NZ and at 28.4km is the second longest in the rally. There is a spectator point on the corner of Blythe and Stonyhurst Rd’s \nStage 3\, at 4.2km is the shortest in the rally. It uses Sinclair Rd just north of Cheviot and while it’s short\, is full of interest and will keep the drivers on their toes. \nStage 4 sweeps down the Leamington Valley and at 29.8km is the rally’s longest. Like stage 2\, it packs in all the conditions to make it a fantastic stage. Once again\, the roads are dry\, hard and fast and record times for this classic stage are more than likely. Stage encompasses Leamington\, Eggleston and Kaiwara roads. Spectator point on the corner of Leamington and Downs Rd’s \nStage 5 starts on Greys Rd Waikari and utilizes Greys\, Heathstock\, MacDonald Downs and Ram Paddock roads to finish in the Broomfield area. Stage 5 is 22.5km long and is sure to test the competitors with its varying conditions\, Spectator point on the corner of Broxton and MacDonald Downs Rd’s \nStage 6 is the classic Onepunga Stage. It has featured in many Canterbury Rallies over the years and although it’s only a little over 6km long it’s a firm favorite among rally crews \nAnd that takes us back into the Ashley Forest for the final stage \n \nWant to get close to the cars and crews? This is not a choice that our group of volunteers have taken lightly but it’s the tough call that we have to make in the best interest of everybody. We are hopeful for the future\, having a Hanmer Rally again when circumstances allow. Thank you for your understanding.
